Between 1994 – 2006 Tuna Purse Seiner Fleet in the Mediterranean received more than 17 Million Euro of European fisheries aid plus a similar amount of national matching funds for modernisation and construction. I have difficulties to understand why taxpayers money is used to wipe out fish stocks and to impede future generations from using this natural recource.

The situation for the Blue Fin is the same for pretty much all commercial fisheries and scientists have been saying over fishing is a problem for over 12 yrs at least. Everytime a sensible quota is proposed authorities double it which makes it almost useless. Also the fishing industry is plagued by stupidity they are fishing themselves out of a lively hood , no fish no fishing.

This film is very interesting as we often dont see or hear the effects of fishing on the ocean. The aim of the film was to let us know that the ocean is an ecosystem where an imbalance can have disasterous effects - e.g. creating endangered species like the bluefin tuna. We can all make a contribution in trying to protect the fish in the ocean.

Incidious degredation of the environment is consistent with species overpopulation. Amoeba in a petre dish, rabbits in Australia, and Humans in this world. Sadly, we are affecting the whole planet, and not just a petre dish. There will come a point where we will go through a major change in habitat and most populations unless we control human demands on the environment and human population. Sadly, I see no real prospect of that happening. Adam is right, but it is more than "a shame". It is an historic tragity, with no probable way back to where we were and what we had, at least in what we normally consider "current time".

The film makes perfect sense, sadly i think the outlook is pretty bleak for the oceans, as sad as that sounds. The problem is over population of humans, to much demand, for a depleting supply. Such a shame
